Hello. My name is Marty Holthaus. For over ten years I worked as a visual effects coordinator for feature length Hollywood movies. Now I write about technology that can be used to transfer old home movies and videos to digital formats. One of the tools that is useful for transferring home movies to a format that can be enjoyed with family and friends is the DVD disc burner. There are internal DVD disc burners that sit inside of your computer and are more or less permanent. And then there are external DVD disc burners that connect to your computer via a data cable such as USB 2.0 or IEEE 1394. An external DVD disc burner is usually easier to set up, easier to use, and more flexible. They can easily be disconnected from the laptop, let’s say, and then re-connected to the desktop computer.
